Looking for a hurdle coach near you? Here are the three ways to find a hurdle coach to help you learn or improve your hurdling:
1. Look for Area Private Clubs
Looking for area private clubs: You may not be interested in joining a team, but this is a prime place to find available coaches or at least, be referred to one. In the US, there are many track clubs for youth hurdling, but unless you know how to find them, it can be very difficult. Depending on your area, the local clubs compete within one of these two governing bodies:
USA Track and Field (USATF) or Amateur Athletic Union (AAU). Going to their websites to look for teams in your area is our best strategy. Here are links to each:
2. Local High School or Middle School Track Coach
Your area school track coach may be available for outside coaching, but if not, may know another coach who is. The best way to contact the coach is to go to the schools website, look for their athletics section. Once there,make your way to the track and field section to find the coach. You should be able to find an email from there. If you can’t find the coach, you could alternatively, look for the athletic director.
3. Online Hurdle Coaching
I would never suggest that an online coach is better than a good, in-person coach, but often, it’s hard to find a qualified hurdle coach near you. Here’s what online coaching looks like, with me, at least.
Starts with signing up for a Virtual Session that can be accomplished either via email or Live via Zoom. Either way, you’ll send me video(s) of your hurdling, goals, questions, concerns, etc. I’l review the video(s) and address any questions, etc. From there, I may suggest a training plan, more sessions, etc. It’s surprisingly effective, and has led to lots of success. and positive feedback.
